“Protecting General Practice, Developing Primary Care”
TRAINING HUBS
Training Hubs (previously known as Community Education Provider Networks) are a Health Education England funded initiative. There are 3 Training Hubs across the county that will identify, develop and coordinate training and work based placements for healthcare professionals across Greater Peterborough, Huntingdon and Fenland, and Cambridge and Ely (the whole of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG footprint).
Initially this will focus on the local primary care workforce (GP Surgery staff in 103 practices) however there is an ambition to develop the scope to include health professionals within the Community and Acute Trusts.
The objectives of the project are to:
-
Identify and bid for additional investment into Primary Care workforce development
-
Develop a "one stop shop" for training in each of the three localities.
-
Develop a package of support for mentors to encourage more clinicians to take up this important role
-
Develop a package of support for practices to encourage more to take on learners
-
Attract more learners and clinicians to come to work in Primary Care
-
Support practices to consider new and emerging roles e.g. Clinical Pharmacists.
